1. What Information is Collected
We collect limited logging information and data required for account operation, if provided. We collect and store the URI, IP address, session ID, user agent, referrer, timestamp, along with other technical information automatically provided by your browser, such as headers and cookies, whenever any connection or request is made to the Service. We also collect and store your account information, such as email address, username, age, and password hash, if you create an Account to use the Service. Any data submitted via a form will also be collected and stored. Downloadable software may collect telemetry data on an opt-in basis. This information is collected regardless of where you reside.
2. How Information is Collected
Certain information is automatically provided by your browser or other clients when you interact with our services. This includes, but is not limited to, your IP address, cookies, headers, URI, and telemetry data (if enabled). Other data is manually submitted to the Service when submitting forms, including account creation and login forms, and support ticket forms. Finally, information may be collected via email support.
3. Why Information is Collected
Information is collected strictly to ensure the Service can be provided. All information that we collect is used for one of the following purposes:
- 1. Identify logged in users. We need to identify a logged-in user so they can properly access their account data.
- 2. Detection of fraud or abuse. Certain logs are created solely for ensuring compliance with our Terms, and to more efficiently detect vulnerabilities.
- 3. Detection of potential bugs. When software telemetry data has been enabled, we use that data to ensure our software functions reliably, and to more easily detect reliability issues.
- 4. Statistics We use a combination of logs to generate statistics. Statistics can include, but are not limited to, downloadable software popularity, content ratings, etc. We use a combination of user-submitted feedback, request logs, and telemetry data (if enabled) to generate these statistics.
- 5. User customization. Users can customize their experience by adjusting settings. We collect the user's preference to ensure these preferences are respected (e.g., a dark mode setting).
Your data is never used to track your activity outside of our services, and we never use your data to serve personalized content, including advertisements.
4. Who Information is Shared With
We do not sell or voluntarily disclose your personal information to any Third-Party. However, the Service utilizes Cloudflare, which may collect or process certain technical data (e.g., your IP address) for security and performance purposes.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the integrity of your data. Passwords are always securely hashed in an irreversible manner. All user data is stored in a secure database which cannot be accessed online. Website moderators have access only to the information they need in order to effectively perform their duties (limited to, any publicly-accessible data, email addresses, IP addresses, account creation dates, and enforcement history).
6. Data Retention
We retain collected data for a reasonable amount of time. Request logs are cleared from time to time, however we have no fixed schedule and cannot guarantee removal within any specific timeframe. Any other user data is stored indefinitely until the user has made a data deletion request, or the user's account has been closed for a specific timeframe. For security reasons, we do not remove enforcement history for any reason except as required by law. This is solely for security reasons to prevent fraud or abuse. See Section 9 for more information regarding data retention for closed accounts.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to request access to, amend, or remove your personal data from our systems, at any time, for any reason. These rights always apply to you, regardless of your jurisdiction, even if your jurisdiction does not include data privacy rights. We will always honor data privacy requests unless required by law to retain the data, provided it does not relate to enforcement history or request logs. We may refuse to delete your IP addresses and email addresses if an account is permanently disabled for security reasons.
8. Children's Privacy
We take the privacy of all of our users very seriously, and we take extra precautions to protect children's data. We never knowingly collect information from minors without consent from a Guardian, apart from request logs, which we always collect. A Guardian may, at any time, submit data privacy requests for their children, provided they can prove their status as a legal guardian. Proof is required solely to protect children's data privacy, and to ensure unauthorized users do not gain information about a minor.
9. Account Closure and Enforcement
When an account is closed or an enforcement action is taken, your data is appropriately handled as follows.
9a. Account Closure Requests
When you close your account using one of the two methods provided in Section 9a of our Terms of Use, your data will be removed from our systems after approximately 60 days from the date the agreement was terminated. During this 60-day window, you will still be able to perform data privacy requests regarding your account, including a request to remove the data immediately. After 60 days, unless required by law, the data will be permanently deleted and will be irrecoverable. Enforcement history is never deleted (see Section 6 for more information).
9b. Account Enforcement
If we permanently disable your account, we retain some of your account data for up to 3 years after your account has been fully deactivated for security. Your account is fully deactivated once the appeal window has ran out, if you do not have an active appeal, and if you have not had an active appeal for at least 7 days. After this point, your account information will be deleted immediately. Your IP addresses and email addresses will be retained for up to 3 years for security reasons only. Enforcement history is never deleted (see Section 6 for more information).
10. Changes to Terms and Policies
We may update this Policy or any other policies from time to time. Review our Terms of Use for more information.
